Obituary

Jenette Maxine (Potts) Sanders was born March 9, 1937, in Moultrie, Georgia. Maxine passed away at the age of 89, on May 1, 2026, in Idaho Falls, Idaho.

Maxine was child number 6 out of 11 to Arthur Mayo Potts and Nettie Jane "Whitfield" Potts.

Maxine graduated from Moultrie High School. Maxine loved spending her time shopping and looking for the next best deal at any thrift store.

In April of 1961, Maxine married James Preston "JP" Sanders. In 1962, JP and Maxine had their loving son, Craig Preston Sanders. The three of them enjoyed spending time together. In 1992, Craig welcomed Maxine's favorite person, her grandson, Preston Richard Sanders. Maxine loved doting over Preston and soaked up as much time as she could with him. In 2001, Craig passed away unexpectedly.

After the passing of Craig, JP and Maxine moved to Bainbridge, Georgia. In Bainbridge, Maxine loved going to all the thrift stores and seeing what deal she could locate.

Aside from shopping, Maxine loved the summer trips to Biloxi, Mississippi with her siblings where they would spend all weekend laughing, eating, having a drink or two, and trying to win money at the slot machines. When Maxine would get back from her Biloxi trips she would always talk about the money she won, or lost. Even up to her passing, Maxine would talk about the trips with her siblings to Biloxi.

In February of 2021, Maxine's husband, JP, passed away. Around this time, Maxine was struggling with her memory, and it was decided she would move to Idaho to live with Preston, and his wife, Haylie, who would help care for her. The final move occurred in April of 2021. Maxine's memory continued to deteriorate, and in June of 2024 Maxine was moved into the Gables of Ammon Assisted Living.

In October of 2024, Preston and Haylie had Maxine's new favorite person, Oakley LaDawn. Maxine loved seeing Oakley and how much she was growing and learning. Maxine often referred to Oakley as Sugar Bug and was always quick to find her a snack during visits.

Maxine is survived by her grandson, Preston (Haylie); great-granddaughter Oakley; sisters, Mary, Toni, and Jackie; brother, Charles, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Maxine is proceeded in death by her parents, Arthur and Nettie; husband, James; son Craig; and 6 siblings.

Maxine passed away on May 1, 2026 and was under the care of Aspen Home Health and Hospice and the loving staff at Gables of Ammon Assisted Living.
