JEANNINE H. SORENSEN
IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Friday, December 7, 2001, Jeannine Young Heilesen Sorensen quietly returned home to her Heavenly Father. What a wonderful reunion she must have had with her husband and two daughters as well as her parents and other family members. What joy to be free of her crippled and sick body. Jeannine had been a resident of the Idaho Falls Care Center for the past 10 years and the family would like to extend its thanks to those who took such good care of her.
On February 2, 1929, Jeannine became the 4th of seven children born to James Milton Heilesen and Tressie Young Heilesen of Burton (Rexburg), Idaho. She received her education from Burton Elementary School through the 8th grade, but was unable to attend high school because of her health. Jeannine suffered from many illnesses in her childhood, including many that were life threatening. She tended children for many families in the Rexburg area and truly loved babies.
Jeannine met her husband, Melvin J. Sorensen, of Moore, Idaho, through a good mutual friend, Dwaine Neff. They were married in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on November 22, 1961. They had been living in Leslie, Idaho, for one a year when tiny Selvia Ruth was born. She lived four days before returning to her Father in Heaven.
Because of Melvin's poor health they moved to Idaho Falls, where he worked for Holiday Office Supply Company. While living there they were blessed by the birth of Louise Ann, who was a beautiful baby with lots of black hair. She was the delight of her parents. A sudden attack of meningitis took her back to Heaven at the age of 3 1/2 months.
Melvin's health continued to decline and he passed away from heart failure on October 12, 1965. Losing her husband and two daughters was very hard for Jeannine. She continued to tend children in her home and that helped to both support her and fill the void in her life. When her home was sold for a commercial building she moved into the Garfield Apartments, where she lived until her failing health caused her to move to the rest home. Jeannine enjoyed needlework and flowers. Her favorite television program was the Lawrence Welk Show. She loved her church services and was very loyal to her family and friends. Jeannine always remembered birthdays and other special occasions and loved giving gifts to her friends and family. Most of all, she loved the little ones she tended throughout the years.
Her parents, her husband, Melvin, their two daughters, a sister, and one brother-in-law preceded her in death.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, December 13, 2001, at the Wood Chapel of the Pines. There will be a viewing prior to the services at 9:30 a.m. at Wood Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Lost River Cemetery in Lost River, Idaho under the direction of Wood Funeral Home.
