Jeanne (Evans) Larson

Bonne Jeanne Evans Larson died peacefully in her sleep December 22, 2020, at her home in Ammon, Idaho. She was 89 years old. Jeanne was born in Idaho Falls, Idaho on April 29,1931. She was the seventh and last child of Joshua Thomas Evans and Vira Elizabeth Cash Evans.

Jeanne’s parents moved away from Idaho Falls for several years, living in Logan, Utah then Emmett, Idaho. They moved back to Idaho Falls and Jeanne grew up there.

Jeanne met Keith Larson in Idaho Falls and on October 14, 1949. The Idaho Falls temple was being remodeled and the remodel took longer than expected, so they made a quick trip to Salt Lake City for their endowment, then returned and they were married in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They had been married for 70 years when her sweetheart, Keith passed on.

Jeanne and Keith made their home in Boise, Idaho in 1955. Keith built homes and they moved often as first the family outgrew the homes, then as their daughters left, their needs shrunk and so did their homes. They had four daughters who have brought them great joy through the years.

One of Jeanne’s greatest joys and gifts to her daughters was arriving as the new grand babies arrived. She was always ready for work, smoothly taking over household responsibilities so her daughters could spoil the new one and get adjusted to the schedules of a new baby in the home. Oh, how grateful we were.

Jeanne gave piano lessons and taught kindergarten. She enjoyed teaching and held many teaching positions in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She taught in Primary, Sunday School and Relief Society. Jeanne introduced Cub Scouts to Pleasant Valley where they lived for several years. She held positions on both the Ward and Stake level. She especially loved doing record extraction and data entry.

Jeanne also worked at Data Entry for a few years after the children had all left home.

Keith and Jeanne decided to teach in some rural areas and spent a couple of years in Pleasant Valley, and later spent 2 years in Three Creek with a population shown on the map of two, Mom and Dad. They then went to Filer to teach at Hollister Elementary School before Dad retired. Mom worked at these schools as a paraprofessional.

Jeanne and Keith moved to Idaho Falls in 1998. As they grew older and needed more support, Keith and Jeanne moved to Rupert in 2009 to be close to their daughter Debrah. Especially appreciated was the watch care the grandchildren and Jeanne's daughters provided when Debrah and Carlos left to teach in China.

In 2016, she returned to her beloved Idaho Falls to live with her daughter Jan and their family. This is where she passed on. Many thanks to Jan and her family, especially Ricky and Jenny, for their untiring support of Grandma and Grandpa as they lived out their last years.

Jeanne’s family has been her greatest source of pleasure and delight. Her husband Keith preceded her in death this year. (19 July 2020) She is survived by her daughters Debrah (Carlos) Roundy, Cathy (Kevin) Meldrum, Clare (Kevin) Bench and Jan (Rich Deceased) Hughes. She has 19 grandchildren (1 deceased), 46 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren by marriage.

Each sister used their talents to provide comfort and support to Mom and Dad in their later years. To name just a few strengths, Debrah who was there to help both parents in their times of need and supported them in their final hours, Cathy who provided good medical advice and support for parents and family, Clare who had such a positive attitude and the willingness to listen that cheered mom up, and Jan who opened heart and home to them and supported them in their last years. The family would especially like to thank all of the grandchildren who would drop by for a quick visit and grandma's never-ending supply of candy, making grandma and grandpa's lives rich and full.

The family would also like to thank Hands of Hope Hospice and the devoted staff at 24/7 Idaho Home Care for the loving care that was given to Jeanne.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 2, 2021, at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road. The family will visit with friends from 1-1:45 p.m. prior. Burial will be in the Ammon Cemetery. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, masks are required.
