JAN MCVEAN
IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Jeanette Lucille Hamma McVean, 87, of Idaho Falls, passed away on May 16, 2010, at her home.
She was born July 1, 1922, in Burlington Township, Michigan to Henry Arthur Hamma and Charlotte Belle Worth Hamma. She grew up and attended schools in the area, graduating from Battle Creek High School. She continued her education at Western Michigan University where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Education.
On August 26, 1944, she married Robert Leo McVean in Battle Creek, Michigan. They lived in Ann Arbor and Royal Oak, Michigan, Oak Ridge, Tennessee, and for the past 52 years in Idaho Falls. She was a mother and homemaker and worked as a teacher.
Jan was a member of the Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed boating and loved being a homemaker.
Survivors are:
Husband: Robert Leo McVean, Idaho Falls, ID
Daughter: Marilyn McVean Scales, Ottawa, Canada
Son: Bruce Robert McVean, Hillsboro, Oregon
Son: John Douglas McVean, Forest Grove, Oregon
6 Grandchildren: Heather Hein, Scott Scales, Morgan McVean, Mackenzie McVean, Amber McVean, and Sarah McVean
3 Great Grandchildren: Daniel, Stephen, and Emily Hein.
She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Kacie Leigh Scales.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, May 21, 2010, at the First Presbyterian Church, 325 Elm Street, with Reverend Tom Wylie officiating. The family will visit with friends on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until time of the service at the church. Burial will be in Fielding Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 325 Elm Street, Idaho Falls, Idaho 83402.
