Jeanette Foster

Jeanette Barrie Foster Smith, 77, of Ucon, passed away February 7, 2017, at her home.

Jeanette was born January 24, 1940, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Andrew Ritchie Barrie and Elva Nielsen Barrie. She grew up in the area and attended Milo and Ucon schools and Bonneville High School.

On February 14, 1957, she married Vernon Dale Foster in Ucon, Idaho. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on July 17, 1965. To this union were born five children: Allen, Bruce, Brian, Renae, and Mike.

Jeanette and Vernon made their home in Ucon, where Jeanette was a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker. Vernon preceded her in death on May 24, 1995. On May 14, 2016, she married Dale Smith in Ucon.

She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in many callings in the Ucon LDS Monument Ward. She enjoyed pictures, quilting, gardening, yardwork, and taking care of her chickens. She also enjoyed doing genealogy, dancing and country music. Jeanette especially loved her family and spending time with them.

Jeanette is survived by her husband, Dale James Smith of Ucon, ID; son, Allen Dale (Tina) Foster of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Bruce Andrew (Catherine Linderman) Foster of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Brian V. Foster of Ucon, ID; son, Michael Elmer (Tiffany) Foster of Shelley, ID; sister, Betty (Ivan) Huntsman of Shelley, ID; sister, Barbara (Jerry) Rounds of Idaho Falls, ID; sister, Mary Lou (Phil) Dupes of Overland Park, KS; sister, Veda (Robert) Weatherbee of St. George, UT; sister, Vada (Steve) Molen of Idaho Falls, ID; sister, Joyce (Glayson) Pickett of Shelley, ID. 10 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Harriett Renae Foster; husband, Vernon Foster; brother, Robert Barrie and his wife, Shirley Barrie; granddaughter, Hilary Bingham; and Great Grandson, Austin McDonald.

The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Dr. Douglas Cook and to Brandy Salinas of Encompass Hospice for the kind and loving care they gave Jeanette.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, February 15, 2017, at the Ucon LDS Monument Ward (10854 North 41 East) with Bishop Justin Pugmire officiating. The family will visit with friends on Tuesday from 6:30-8 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home (273 N. Ridge) and on Wednesday from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to the services at the church. Burial will be in the Ucon Cemetery.
