JEAN A. MILLER
IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Jean Antoinette Waddington Miller, 80, of Idaho Falls, died May 19, 2002.
She was born January 28, 1922 at Calgary, Alberta, Canada to Joseph Waddington and Dora Antoinette Malley Waddington. She attended schools in Ogden, Utah. In 1941, she graduated from the Crescent Height Collegiate Institute with honors. She attended Holy Cross School of Nursing from 1941 to 1944 and then did post graduate work at Bozeman University. She worked as a registered nurse at Cornation Hospital in Alberta, Canada and then as a supervisor at Holy Cross Hospital in Calgary, Canada.
On June 6, 1946, she married William Delmer Miller in Berkeley, California. Their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on January 28, 1976. From 1947 to 1950, she worked at Permanente Kaiser Hospital in Oakland, California and then Pullman, Washington Student Hospital. They moved to Idaho Falls in 1951 where she worked at LDS Hospital, Sacred Heart Hospital, as a public health nurse, relief RN for Phillips Petroleum and Director of Nurses at Good Samaritan. She retired in 1973.
She was active in the PTA program and the Red Cross organization. She was an active member of the Friends of the Library and was accomplished at repairing books for the library.
She had been an active member of the Methodist Church and later converted to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in the Primary, Relief Society, as a Visiting Teacher, and was known for her compassionate service. She enjoyed traveling, outdoor activities, fishing, hiking, camping, gardening, and reading. She loved her dog and companion, Sammie. Surviving are:Daughter: Velma Jean (Lynn) Humphries, Idaho FallsSon: Dr. Robert John (Pat) Miller, Preston, ID 10 Grandchildren and 11 Great Grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her husband and a son, Donald William Miller
Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 23, 2002, at the Idaho Falls North Stake Center (955 Memorial Drive), with Bishop David G. Holland of the Idaho Falls LDS 7th Ward officiating.
The family will meet with friends Wednesday from 7-8:30 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home and from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.
Burial will be in Fielding Memorial Park under the direction of Wood Funeral Home.
