JEAN ALLAN
IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Jean Ann Allan, 89, of Idaho Falls, died of natural causes April 26, 2009 at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. She was born June 8, 1919, in San Francisco, CA, to Mario Vedovelli and Maria Cortese Vedovelli. Her early years were spent in San Francisco, the family later moved to Pittsburgh, Ca and she graduated from Pittsburgh High School in June of 1940.
She married her high school sweetheart, Ralph D. Allan Jr. on October 25, 1940, at her in-law's home, a union that lasted 63 years. They lived in Oregon a short time and returned to California at the start of World War II where her husband enlisted in the U.S. Navy serving in the Pacific Theatre. Jeannie went to work for Bell Telephone in Irvington, California, as a long distance operator. Upon her husband's Navy discharge in 1945, they resided in Fremont, California until 1966, moving to San Jose, California, where she worked for Mervyn’s stores for five years. In 1986 they moved to Magalia, California, to be near their daughter and son-in-love, Katharine and Ralph, and granddaughters, Nicole and Jessica. In the summer of 2000, Jeannie and Ralph moved to Idaho Falls to be near their son and daughter-in-love, Gary and Kit, and granddaughters, Annake and Hannah.
Jeannie was a member of the Catholic Church. She enjoyed gardening, sewing and was a wonderful seamstress. She loved her dogs and cats. Jeannie's life revolved around her family and friends. She was a loving, warm and devoted wife to Ralph for 63 years, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Her love knew no boundaries.
Jean is survived by her daughter, Katharine J. (Ralph) Crippen of Paradise, California; son, Gary P. (Kit) Allan of Idaho Falls; sister, Ella May Bottari of Lamoille, Nevada; grandchildren, Nicole Crippen of Chico, California, Jessica Crippen of Paradise, California, John and Annake Allan Scholes of Idaho Falls, Hannah Allan of Idaho Falls, Justin and Breanne Allan of California, Brandon and Neil Allan of Nevada; two great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ralph; son Douglas; parents, Mario and Maria Vedovelli; sister, Liberty Junta; brothers, Albert and Dante Vedovelli
A Memorial Service and Inurnment will be held in Elko, Nevada, at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Jean's name to Good Samaritan Society, Idaho Falls Village, 840 E. Elva, Idaho Falls, Idaho 83401.
