Jay L. Roberts - 11/12/2002 Jay L. Roberts - 11/12/2002 JAY L. ROBERTS COLTMAN, ID -- Jay L. Roberts, 87, of Coltman, died November 11, 2002, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center of a heart attack. He was born July 23, 1915, at Sugar City, to Henry Charles Roberts and Lillie Dale Roberts. He spent his early years in Sugar City and grew up and attended schools there. He also attended Ricks College and the University of Idaho. He has lived in the Idaho Falls and Menan area most of his life. He married Phyllis Marshall January 9, 1941, in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. He worked as a parts man, farmer, and in the automotive industry most of his life. He also served as County Assessor. An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he and Phyllis fulfilled a full-time mission in Detroit, Michigan. He was served as a high councilman, temple worker, and served faithfully in many callings. He was active in sports in his youth and lettered in baseball at Ricks College. He refereed basketball for many years for school and church games. He was a member of several bowling leagues and was an avid dancer. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, horses, camping, and his family. Roberts, Idaho FallsSister: Lillie “Freda” Martin, Fairfield, OH 15 Grandchildren, 5 Great GrandchildrenHe was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Adeline, Ilene, and Fay, a brother, Carl, and a granddaughter. Anne Marie Koplin. Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, November 15, 2002, at the Idaho Falls LDS Coltman 1st Ward, 12448 North 5th East, with Bishop Jerry Welker officiating. The family will visit with friends on Thursday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge, and for one hour prior to the services on Friday at the church.
