Jay Rhoades

Jay LaVern Rhoades, 81, of Idaho Falls, passed away June 1, 2016, at his home. He was under the care of his family and Aspen Home Health & Hospice. Jay was born June 25, 1934, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to John Rhoades and Edna Goodson Rhoades. He grew up and attended schools in Rigby and graduated from Rigby High School. He also attended Phoenix Community College. On August 19, 1956, he married Mary Ann Rhoades in Idaho Falls, Idaho. To this union were adopted four children, Terrie, Shawn, Todd, and Crystal. Jay and Mary Ann made their home in Idaho Falls, Idaho, where Jay worked as a mechanic for Buick. He also worked as an exterminator for EchoLab. He enjoyed woodworking, building, maintaining his home, fishing, and hunting. Jay is survived by his loving wife of nearly 60 years, Mary Ann Rhoades of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Terrie Carter of Idaho Falls, ID, son, Shawn D. (Amy) Rhoades of Limon, CO, son, Todd J. (Bridget) Rhoades of Phoenix, AZ, daughter, Crystal L. (Michael) Thompson of Phoenix, AZ. 9 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Denny Rhoades, and two sisters, Josephine Winder and Delores Jensen. No public services will be held.
