Jay Claren Mickelsen, 51, of Rigby, passed away May 28, 2016, at his home.

Jay was born July 17, 1964, in Murray, Utah, to Claren Alonzo Mickelsen and Ramona Pauline Lawrence Mickelsen. He grew up and attended schools in Idaho Falls and graduated from Skyline High School in 1982. He also attended Idaho State University College of Technology in Pocatello and studied in the auto body program.

On August 7, 1987, he married his high school sweetheart, Kandi Sue Call, in Idaho Falls, Idaho. To this union were born four children, Zackry, Misti, Jaden, and Tiffanie. Jay and Kandi made their home on the west side of town for thirteen years and then they built a home in Rigby, Idaho. Jay worked as a Territory Manager for US Foods.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, and spending quality time with his wife, granddaughter, family, and friends.

Jay is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Kandi Mickelsen of Rigby, ID; son, Zackry Claren Mickelsen of Rigby, ID; daughter, Misti Sue (Todd) Farnes of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Jaden Arlen Mickelsen of Rigby, ID; daughter, Tiffanie Kandi Mickelsen of Rigby, ID; granddaughter, Oaklie Sue Farnes of Idaho Falls, ID; sister, Debra Williams of Tensed, ID; brother, Kregg (Diane) Mickelsen of Shelley, ID; half brother, Shawn Neumeier of Calgary, Canada; half sister, Shellie Neumeier of Quebec; He was preceded in death by his parents and birth mother, Karen Scanlon.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 4, 2016, at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road, with Bishop Marlow Blanchard officiating. The family will visit with friends Friday from 6:30-8 p.m. and Saturday from 1-1:45 p.m. prior to services, both times at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Wood Funeral Home to help with medical expenses.
