Click Here To View Jay's Funeral Service Live Jay Clarence McMurtrey, 52, of Idaho Falls, passed away on March 5, 2015, at his home. He was born September 19, 1962, in Arco, Idaho to Billy J. McMurtrey and Lillie Mae Chandler McMurtrey. He attended schools in Arco and Malad and graduated from Malad High School. Jay enjoyed being outside doing yard work, growing his prized sunflowers, golfing, and walking the beach in Mexico. He loved to travel. This last year he went to New York and San Diego with the love of his life, Michelle. Dove hunting, carving pumpkins and coloring Easter eggs were favorite activities he did with his daughter Angela. These activities became more of a tradition when Jay became a Grandpa. He loved teaching his grandchildren how to fish, go sledding, and play the wii. He worked at the Idaho National Laboratories (INL) as a Security Guard for 28 years. Jay enjoyed golf, traveling, and going to concerts especially Rush, his favorite band. He also loved spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by: Daughter: Angela Barnes of Arco, ID Girlfriend: Michelle Barr of Idaho Falls, ID Parents: Billy and Lillie McMurtrey of Arco, ID Brother: Brad (Anita) McMurtrey of Blackfoot, ID Sister: Marilyn (Sam) Small of Hyrum, UT Brother: Brent McMurtrey of Rock Springs, WY; Brother: Blake (Suzanne) McMurtrey of Idaho Falls, ID Brother: Scott (Trudy) McMurtrey of Malad, ID Brother: Alan (Chantal) McMurtrey of Idaho Falls, ID 3 Grandchildren, Gabriel, Brock, and Serenity Barnes. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 11, 2015, at Wood Funeral Home (273 N. Ridge). The family will visit with friends on Wednesday from 1-1:45 p.m. prior to the services. Burial will be in the Taylor Cemetery.
