Jay Farnes

Jay Elmer Farnes, 90, of Idaho Falls, passed away on January 31, 2013, at Good Samaritan Society Idaho Falls Village. He was born February 12, 1922, in Darby, Idaho to John Russell Farnes and Ida Rosyliva Jacobsen Farnes. He grew up in the Swan Valley and Idaho Falls area and attended schools in Idaho Falls. He served in the U.S. Navy as a Seaman during World War II. On November 18, 1954, he married Faye Elizabeth Crow in Salmon, Idaho. She preceded him in death on November 13, 2007. Jay was a farmer in Idaho Falls and enjoyed fishing and camping. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Survivors are: Son Lonny (Karleen) Johnson. Menan, ID Daughter: Sherree (Rick) Lott, Idaho Falls, ID Son: J. Russell Farnes, Idaho Falls, ID Son: Mark (Kim) Farnes, Idaho Falls, ID Son: Kent Farnes, Idaho Falls, ID Brother: Lyle Farnes, Idaho Falls, ID Brother: Elden Farnes, Portland, OR Brother: Glen Farnes, Idaho Falls, ID Sister: Deloris Hinckley, Salt Lake City, UT 10 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild The family would like to express their gratitude and thanks to the Good Samaritan Nursing Home for the care they gave Jay. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 9, 2013, at Wood Funeral Home (273 N. Ridge) in Idaho Falls. The family will visit with friends on Saturday from 1:00 to 1:45 prior to the services, at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Taylor Cemetery with military rites by the Bonneville County Veterans Team and Idaho Honor Guard.
