IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Jay Lester Beck, 67, of Idaho Falls, passed away October 27, 2006 at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center of cancer.
He was born June 20, 1939, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Lester Robert Beck and Pearl Richeson Beck. He grew up and attended schools in Idaho Falls graduating from Idaho Falls High School.
He served in the U.S. Navy for ten years as a 2nd Class Aviation Storekeeper before and during the Vietnam conflict. His Navy career took him aboard the U.S.S. Kearsarge CV33 for 1 year, to San Diego, CA for 3 yrs., Hawaii for 3 yrs. and Alameda, CA for 3 years. Later, he and his family lived in Shelley for 10 years then moved to Idaho Falls.
He married Margaret Ann Strom July 10, 1958 in Idaho Falls. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Honolulu, HA LDS Temple.
He worked as grocery manager for Safeway and Albertsons, and later, as Sub-contract Administrator for E.G.& G.
As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served as Scout Master and earned his own Eagle Scout Award. He was also a member of the Elks Lodge in Idaho Falls.
He enjoyed spending time with his family fishing, hunting, camping and four-wheeling, and he always proudly flew the American flag..

Brother: Scott (Carol Lyn) Beck, Paso, WA
Brother: Dale (Carol) Beck, Idaho Falls, ID
15 Grandchildren & 7 Great Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 1, 2006, at the Wood Chapel of the Pines, 273 North Ridge Avenue, with Bishop Kirk Doman officiating. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. at Wood Ffuneral Home.
Burial will be in the Annis-Little Butte Cemetery where Military Rites will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Team. Services are under the direction of Wood Funeral Home.
