Jarius Hansen Jr

JERRY HANSEN REXBURG, ID -- Jarius "Jerry" Huron Hansen, Jr, 73, passed away January 6, 2009 at the Rexburg Nursing and Rehabilitation Center surrounded by family. He was born August 23, 1935 to Jarius Hyrum Hansen, Sr. and Hazel Shelton Hansen in Idaho Falls, Idaho. He attended school and graduated from Idaho Falls High School. He was in the Marine Corps as a Sergeant and served during the Korean War. He married Donna M. Griffin on May 10, 1957 in Lancaster, California and made their home in Swan Valley where they raised their family. They were later divorced. He married Linda Mankey on September 3, 1994 in Swan Valley, Idaho. Jerry worked for the United States Forest Service, Bonneville County Sheriff Department and the Idaho State Outfitters Board. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He was a member of the Swan Valley EMS, American Legion and the Swan Valley Jeep Patrol. He was an artist, and enjoyed fishing, woodworking, camping, hunting, reading, pinochle, and mentoring the youth. He also enjoyed being with his children and grandchildren. Survivors include: His wife, Linda, of Swan Valley, ID Son Jarius H. (Ann) Hansen, III of Idaho Falls, ID Son, Joshua G. (Ann) Hansen of Rexburg, ID Son, Duane ( Lisa) Boman of Taylorsville, UT; Daughter, Bonnie Joyce ( Michael) Charney of Denver, CO; Daughter, ReBekah Thompson of Idaho Falls, ID Daughter, Ruth M. Crisp (Travis Walker) of Swan Valley, ID Sister, Hazel Louis Hatfield, Libby, MT Sister, Mary Alice (Wayne) Munson, Idaho Falls, ID Sister, Gloria (Lew) McVey of Swan Valley, ID 15 Grandchildren and 14 Great Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Hy and Hazel; sisters, Lila and Elsie and stepmother, Agnes McManigal Hansen. A memorial gathering will be on Friday, January 16, 6-9:00 p.m. at the American Legion Hall in Swan Valley with Bishop Doug Martin offering the family prayer. The family suggests in lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to the Swan Valley Senior Citizens Center (P. O. I will never forget the time that I had ended up at your house after dark and I was not supposed to drive after dark (and our dad's followed the law to the letter)and your dad drove my car home for me, and when he rounded the corner @ the SaddleSore Saloon, and fish tailed most the way down the road & we watched & laughed.
