Jayne Smith-Campbell

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jayne H. Smith-Campbell, 82, a cherished mother, grandmother, and friend to many, who left us peacefully on March 24, 2026, at the Eastern Idaho Medical Center.

Born on November 5, 1943, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, Jayne's vibrant spirit and infectious laughter touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Jayne was the daughter of Isamu and Kimiye Mayeda, and was the first child of nine siblings: Jayne, Sarah, Carolyne, David, Max, Gene, Roger, Rosie, and Terry. She was a caring sister and carried the memories of her family with her throughout her life.

Jayne married the love of her life, Ronald E. Smith, on December 12, 1967. He passed away on January 18, 1985. She found love again with Neal Campbell, whom she married on June 27, 1992, and cherished until his passing on January 15, 2024.

As a mother and grandmother, Jayne was exceptional. She leaves behind her sons, Michael (Hisako) Smith, Ryan Smith, and Teagon (Cheri) Smith. Jayne also embraced her role as a stepmother to Alison (Tad) Beckman, Daneal (Billy) Dixon, and Willie (Amy) Campbell. Her legacy of love continues through her 15 grandchildren, Hana (Thomas) Ford, Sheia (Addison) Everett, Christa (Joshua) Kirk, Sachi Smith, Clay (Haylie) Smith, Conlan (Madysen) Smith, Halli (Alonzo) Garcia, Olivia Smith; step-grandkids, Terek (Heidi) Beckman, Chase (Olivia) Beckman, Brian (Kylie) Dixon, Trevor Dixon, Evan (Jaidon) Dixon, Taylor Campbell, Taran Campbell, and numerous great-grandchildren, each of whom she adored.

Jayne's educational journey began at Bonneville High School, then she went on to earn an Associates Degree at LDS Business College. She dedicated 30 years of her professional life to working for contractors for the Idaho National Laboratory (INL), where she not only contributed immensely, but also formed friendships that lasted a lifetime.

Beyond her career, Jayne found joy and camaraderie in her passions. An enthusiastic golfer, she participated in many years of summer golf leagues. She loved to travel, finding excitement in new places, and was known to enjoy a fun outing to Fort Hall. More than anything, Jayne cherished time spent with her family, attending games and activities.

Jayne was known for her humor and the joy she brought into every room. Her ability to make friends easily and maintain those friendships over the years was a testament to her genuine and loving nature. Laughter was her medicine, and she shared it freely, she always loved a good joke.

Jayne is preceded in death by her great grandson, Rocky Smith; late husbands, Neal K. Campbell and Ronald E. Smith; her brother, Roger Mayeda; sister, Sarah Maas; and step-grandson, Brian Dixon.

To celebrate Jayne's life, a visitation will be held on April 11, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at Wood Funeral Home East Side, located at 963 S. Ammon Rd., Ammon, ID 83406. Following the visitation, there will be a burial ceremony at 12:00 p.m. at Rose Hill Cemetery, 2355 Rollandet Avenue, Idaho Falls, Idaho. Jayne's family extends a special invitation to all who knew and loved her to join them in honoring her memory.

Jayne H. Smith-Campbell's legacy is one of love and laughter. Though her presence will be deeply missed, her spirit will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those she touched.
