Janice Lavon (Tonks) Krahn

Janice LaVon Krahn, 81, of Iona, passed away January 14, 2024, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.

Janice was born April 26, 1942, in Rexburg, Idaho, to Leland M. Tonks and Laura M. Peterson Tonks. She grew up and attended schools in  Teton Valley and graduated from Teton High School.

On March 10, 1961, she married Tom Kyte in Victor, Idaho. Tom passed away on June 28, 1965. On September 27, 1969, she married Kent Krahn. Janice  and Kent made their home in Ogden, Utah, and Pocatello, Idaho, where Janice  worked as a secretary for 37 years. Kent passed away on April 26, 1989.

She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Janice enjoyed crocheting, knitting, ceramics, Pinochle, reading, baking and collecting recipes. Janice especially loved spending time with her family.

Janice  is survived by her children, Laurie Kyte of Idaho Falls, ID, Dan Kyte ofIdaho Falls, ID, Doug (Barbara) Armstrong of Salmon, ID, Kent Benjamin Krahn of Idaho Falls, ID, and Shari (Roy) Snyder of Iona, ID; four brothers, Kent Tonks of Victor, ID, Keith (Judie) Tonks of Tetonia, ID, Chris Tonks of Victor, ID, and Gary (Lynette) Tonks of Sugar Salem, ID; ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Tom Kyte; second husband, Kent Krahn; her parents; brother, Kyle Tonks; daughter-in-law, Shurie Kyte; and daughter, Julie Kyte.

Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. Saturday, January 20, 2024, at Victor LDS Chapel, 87 East Center. The family will visit with friends Friday from 6:30-8:00 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 South Ammon Road, and Saturday from 11-11:45 a.m. prior at the church. Burial will be in the Victor Cemetery.
