Janice Darlene Leimomi Takaki, 66, of Idaho Falls, formerly of Hawaii, passed away July 7, 2011, at her home. Jan was born January 12, 1945, in Lihue, Kauai, Hawaii, to James Mitsuo Takaki and Madeline Tsuyako Katayama Takaki. She attended school in Kapaa on the island of Kauai. She received her bachelors degree in speech and drama from BYU-Hawaii. She continued her education at the University of Hawaii and earned her Master’s degree in Communications. She taught at BYU-Hawaii, University of Hawaii and Leeward Community College. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served a mission on the Navajo Reservation in Arizona. She loved teaching, tennis, racquetball and swimming. She is survived by her brother, Larry S. Takaki of Hawaii; Hanai daughter, Hitomi (Jim) Wada of Hawaii; the Stanfield family of Idaho Falls, ID; the Park/Mahiai family; and many more dear and close friends and family. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Grace and Lauren. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 16, 2011 at the Idaho Falls LDS North Stake Center, 955 Memorial Drive, with Bishop Greg Poulter officiating. A viewing will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment will be at Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery.
