Janice Arlene Rottweiler was born April 20, 1935 to Maude Jewel Fisher and John Rottweiler in St Anthony, Idaho. She spent her childhood in Hamer, Idaho with her two younger siblings, John and Claire, who are 10 and 16 years younger than Jan, respectively.
Jan married her childhood friend, Ray Cleon Pabst, on July 27, 1956, in the Idaho Falls Temple. They were blessed with five children. Jan worked as a secretary and piano teacher to help support the family.
She was an incredibly talented pianist and organist and passed her love for music along to her children, all of whom followed her example and learned piano and other instruments. She was also able to bless her family as a seamstress and quilter. She and Ray supported their children through their many athletic activities and were active members of their community. They raised their family in Price, Utah.
Jan was devoted to the Gospel of Jesus Christ and spent her life in service. She spent many years as a ward organist, Sunday School teacher, Young Women's advisor, and many other callings. She earned a Golden Gleaner award in 1961. After retirement, she and Ray served a total of 23 years in three temples: Manti - where they served in the temple presidency from 1998-2002 - Nauvoo, and Idaho Falls.
Jan is survived by her siblings, John Dale (Boni) Rottweiler and Claire (Max) Skidmore; her five children, Kerry Ray (Nancy) Pabst, Jolyn Pabst, Clarene (Chris) Marley, Janae (Richard) Larsen, and Janeal (Gayland) Dugmore; 21 grandchildren; and 37 great grandchildren.
Jan was preceded in death by her eternal companion, Ray, and infant daughter, Cheryl. She was reunited with both on November 11, 2024.
