Janice Wormser Liss, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, passed away September 23, 2011, at home at Fairwinds-Sandcreek Retirement Community in Idaho Falls, where she has lived for the past four years with her only living relative, her husband of 60 years, V. Mitchell Liss. She was under the care of Hands of Hope Hospice. Janice was born December 4th, in New York City, New York, to I. Maurice Wormser, a distinguished professor at Formham University and editor of the New York Law Journal, and his wife, Florence Werner Wormser. Janice grew up and attended schools in New York and graduated from Barnard College with a bachelor’s degree in education. The Lisses married August 27, 1951, in Mexico City, Mexico. They had no children, which aided the foreign travels and residences, but they are survived by a nephew, Harry Liss, and his wife, Kathy, of Cameron, Montana. Janice’s career was as a French and Spanish Teacher at the high school level. This knowledge was especially useful in her travels with her husband in his engineering projects in India, Saudi Arabia, Canada, and USA chemical plant sites. She was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Idaho Falls. Janice enjoyed golf, diving, swimming, and horseback riding. A Gathering for family and friends will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 Noon Thursday, September 29, 2011, at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 South Ammon Road. Burial will follow in Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery.
