Janette Portela

Janette Dora Likes Portela, 84, of Idaho Falls, passed away September 21, 2011, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center of heart failure. Janette was born June 22, 1927, in Goshen, Idaho, to Russell R. Likes and Dora Foster Likes. She grew up in the Idaho Falls area and attended schools there. On May 17, 1947, she married Russell Felix Portela in Dillon, Montana. They made their home in Idaho Falls and she was a homemaker and mother. She also worked at the White Star Laundry, Modern Café and as a sorter for Idaho Bonded and retired in 1986. Russell passed away September 6, 1990. She enjoyed gardening, ceramics, and being with her grandkids. Janette is survived by: Son: Russell A. (Sharon) Portela of Idaho Falls, ID, Daughter: Dora L. (Mike) Nilsson of Idaho Falls, ID; Daughter: Diana Lynn Portela of Idaho Falls, ID; Brother: Rusty R. (Cleo) Likes of Idaho Falls, ID; Brother: Tom M. (Wanda) Likes of Idaho Falls, ID; Sister: Florence A. Young of Bountiful, UT; 6 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren. 4 great great grandchildren She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell F. Portela, her parents, grandparents, three sisters, Viola Hodson, Violet Hall, and Bertha Krosselt, and a brother, Delbert Likes. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 24, 2011, at the Idaho Falls LDS Lincoln Church, 3700 East Lincoln Road, with Bishop Chris Chatterton of the Sandcreek Third Ward officiating. The family will visit with friends from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. Saturday at the church. Burial will be in Lincoln Cemetery.
