JANET MARIE JENKINS BENZLEY
SALT LAKE CITY, UT - Janet Marie Jenkins Benzley, dearly loved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend died peacefully in her sleep on January 25, 2002 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
She was born January 31, 1938 in Idaho Falls, Idaho, eldest child of James Spencer and Margaret Lillian Nichols Jenkins. Janet married her sweetheart, Paul Robert Benzley on June 10, 1959 in the Logan LDS Temple. She graduated from Bonneville High School in Ammon, Idaho and attended Ricks College at Rexburg. Janet earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Home Economics from Utah State University and a Master of Education from the University of Utah. She taught Home Economics in Cache Valley, SaltLake City and Davis Counties. She was an Adjunct Professor and Academic Advisor for the Department of Family and Consumer Studies at the University of Utah. For eight years Janet was a Real Estate Agent with Coldwell Banker Premier, Davis County. She authored a real estate advice column in theDavis County Clipper for 2½ years.
An active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served in the Relief SocietyPresidency, as a Relief Society teacher, Ward Choir Director, Organist and was a member of The Tabernacle Choir from 1978-1996. One of Janet's hymn arrangements "Jesus, Savior, Pilot Me" was givenspecial recognition in the Relief Society division of the Church-wide music competition and performed at the 2001 BYU Women's Conference.
Janet is survived by her husband, Robert; daughters, Karen (David) Brower, Orange, California and Anne (Mark) Palmer, Glen Allen, Virginia; brothers, James Jenkins, Bothell, WA; Dale Jenkins, Clair Jenkins, Redmond, WA; Cloy Jenkins, Kihei, Maui; Marion Jenkins, Littleton, CO: sister, Norma (David) Christensen, Ucon, ID; and grandchildren, Benjamin, Ashley, Cali and Caitlin Brower; Eric, Scott, Jacob and Andrea Palmer.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 31, 2002 at the Bountiful East Stake Center, 650 East 2200 South, Bountiful. Friends may call Wednesday from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 North Main, Bountiful and Thursday morning from 9:45 - 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services.
Graveside services will be held Friday, February 1, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. at the Ucon Cemetery in Idaho under the direction of Wood Funeral Home.
