Jane Wood

Carol Jane King Wood passed away on December 21, 2011 at the Idaho Falls Care & Rehabilitation Center of natural causes at the age of 90. Jane was born December 31, 1920 to William E King and Bertha Ellen Olson King in Sparta, Wisconsin. She graduated from Sparta High School in 1938. She attended LaCrosse State Teachers College and graduated from St. Francis School of Nursing in 1942. She came to Idaho Falls to work at the Sacred Heart Hospital with the same Sisters she trained with. This is where she met her husband, Ferrel Wyatt Wood, and they were married in Pullman, Washington on December 25, 1943. Jane and Ferrel Jane lived in Wisconsin for a short while and then in Rexburg where Ferrel built and operated Woody’s drive in. They then settled in Idaho Falls in 1950 where they farmed and she worked at the Sacred Heart Hospital, Home Health and Good Samaritan Rest Home. After their retirement they spent many wonderful winters in Kingman and Yuma, Arizona. Jane was involved in the Boy Scouts, Brownies, 4-H and Home Makers. She also belonged to the Womans Club, Rebekah’s No 33, and RSVP . She was a member of the St. Paul’s United Methodist Church. She enjoyed reading, volunteering at various places and donating to good causes. Jane is survived by her four children: Douglas (Sandra) Wood of Idaho Falls; Michael (Suzanne) Wood of Temecula, California; Barbara (Paul) Baird of Post Falls, Idaho; and Steven (Carol) Wood of Sacramento, California. She has nine grandchildren and one great granddaughter. She is preceded in death by her husband Ferrel Wood; sister, Helen Stuber and her parents. We would like to thank the staff of the Idaho Falls Care and Rehabilitation Center for the loving care that they gave to our beloved Mother. A Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, December 30, 2011, at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church (1730 St. Clair) in Idaho Falls. Burial will be in the Ammon Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Idaho Youth Ranch or a charity of your choice.
