Jane Hilder

Thelma Jane Hilder, 83, of Idaho Falls, passed away May 7, 2026, at Idaho Falls Community Hospital.

Jane was born April 3, 1943, in San Bernardino, California, to Thomas Jesse Harris and Zula Clark Harris. She grew up and attended schools in Walnut Creek, California, and graduated from Las Lomas High School.

On October 21, 1962, she married Richard Kent Hilder in Carson City, Nevada. Jane and Richard made their home in San Lorenzo, California, for over forty years and raised their six children, Tamara Jane, Richard Kent, Troy Clark, Candy Janae, Deborah Janene, and Todd Anthony.

Jane adored her children and grandchildren. She loved cooking, the Oakland A’s baseball team, and decorating for Christmas. She watched The Young and the Restless for decades and finally went to Hollywood to meet the cast. Her first love was Elvis Presley, and she still enjoyed watching his movies and playing his music during her evening shower. She made the best Christmas candies and shared them with everyone. She loved her game shows and was convinced she’d win it all if ever she was a contestant. She had a sweet tooth, so she was never without See’s Candies or ice cream.

She was a very proud member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She worked at the Oakland Temple until her retirement in 2004. After retiring, she and her husband, Richard, relocated to Idaho Falls, Idaho.

Jane is survived by her daughter, Tamara Hoggs; son, Richard “Rick” (Karen) Hilder, Jr.; son, Troy Hilder; daughter, Candy Hilder; daughter, Deborah (Joseph) Gutierrez; son, Todd (Kim) Hilder; sister, Charlotte Westover; brother, Tom Harris; brother, Clark Harris; best friend, Diane Palmer; grandchildren, Vanessa, Devin, Tara, Reggie, Troy Jr., Jordan, Ricky III, Destaney, Rebekah, Mercedes, Olivia, Daniel, Caitlyn, Johnny, Brandon, Joey, Adam, Marissa, and Libby; great grandchildren, Jayden, Kaizliee, Samantha, Maverick, Athena, Michael, Kimber, Justin, Damian, Evelyn, Elodie, Dean, Willow, and Jaxston.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Kent Hilder Sr.; parents, Thomas and Zula Harris; sisters, Lorraine, Katherine, Dolores, Virginia, and Marilyn; brothers, Alden and Grant; son-in-law, Thomas Hoggs; grandson, Kyieu Hilder; friends, Gail Sanchez and Anne West; and her beloved dog, Toby.

Private family services will be held.
