Janice Ellen Chapman 74, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, passed away Tuesday March 12, 2024, surrounded by her family.
She was born in Artesia, California, on Monday, February 20, 1950, to her parents, Sybil and Clyde Myers. Jan was the second of six children. She attended schools in Lakewood, California, until she met the love of her life, Les, at Mayfair High School.
She married Leslie A Chapman in Bellflower, California, on June 9, 1967, into which they had four children, Leslie James, Lorie Ellen, Lisa Michelle, and Lenny Michael.
Jan, a military wife, followed her husband across the United States, and even down to the Panama Canal Zone. Jan wore many hats, she was not only the wife, the mother, father, disciplinarian, T-ball coach, friend, sister, and role model to so many people. Jan was a stick of dynamite, and she would tell you... “Don’t mess with me, dynamite comes in small packages!” Jan was very active in her life from scuba diving the Panama Canal Zone, to even parachuting out of a helicopter with my Dad. She lived her life to the fullest, always waiting for the next fun event, from a roller coaster, tubing, Ross Park, camping, hiking, cemeteries, or just being with her family. Jan loved holidays, and the decorating that came along with the holiday. Nothing was never just normal, nope, it was always extraordinary pink, glitter, and sparkles!
She is survived by her husband of almost 57 years, Les Chapman of Idaho Falls; her children, Les (Stacie) Chapman, Lorie (Bret) Martin, Lisa Howze, and Lenny Chapman, all of Idaho Falls. She is also survived by a sister, a brother, 11 grandkids, and 13 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 23, 2024, at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road. The family will visit with friends Friday from 6:30-8 p.m. and Saturday from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to services, both visitations at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Ammon Cemetery.
