JAMES WESTON
IDAHO FALLS, ID -- James Richard Weston, 71, of Idaho
Falls, died Saturday, August 21, 2004, at his home after a long struggle
with Alzheimers Disease.
He was born July 26, 1933, in Logan, Utah, the son of
Herbert Robinson Weston and Karma Dunford Weston, the youngest of eight
children.
He attended and graduated from Logan High School, completed
an electronics course at the DeVre Technical Institute in Chicago, IL
and graduated from Utah State University with a Bachelor of Science degree
in Aeronautical Engineering. While at Utah State, he completed the Air
Force ROTC requirements and was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in the Air
Force Reserve. He was affiliated with the Sigma Epsilon Fraternity, Arnold
Air Society, and Society of Automotive Engineers.
In 1955, he married Barbara Joy Turner and they were
later divorced. In 1961, he married Patty J. McGreggor. They were later
divorced. In 1989, he married his present wife, Gaye.
He worked for North American Aviation as an Engineer
in Downey, California up until the time he was called into active duty
in the U. S. Air Force. His training was in San Antonio, TX, Cheyenne,
WY, and San Bernardino, CA. In 1959, he was transferred overseas to an
Air Base in Tianan, Taiwan. After returning to the States and honorably
discharged, he returned to civilian life and regained employment at North
American Aviation in Southern California where he remained until returning
to Logan to serve as General Manager of Central Milling Company, a position
he held for 36 years until the business was sold in 1997.
In 1976, he and his brothers, Dunford and Roscoe, purchased
a motel in West Yellowstone. While still working at the mill, he and his
two brothers purchased five more motels.
In the latter part of 1991, after working 15 years with
his brothers, the decision was made to separate the motels in a manner
that gave Jim full ownership of the motels in West Yellowstone, MT, Idaho
Falls, ID, and St. George, UT. He and Gaye owned and operated these motels
until his declining health forced him into retirement. They then bought
a home in St. George and Bear Lake, Utah, where they have lived until
June of this year when the decision was made to move back to Idaho Falls.
