Click Here To View Funeral Services For J.T. Click Here To View Memorial Video James Thomas “J.T.” Walters, 84, of Idaho Falls, passed away on May 18, 2015, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. He was born November 24, 1930, in Blackfoot, Idaho, to William Floyd Walters and Bessie P. Winterbottom Walters. He lived in Blackfoot until he was 15 years old, at which time he moved to Idaho Falls. At age 18, he joined the Idaho National Guard and was sent to Korea with the U.S. Army. He served 2 years in the Army and received a Korean Service Medal with two Bronze Stars. He married Eileen Roland on July 12, 1952, in Idaho Falls at Trinity United Methodist Church. Together, they had five children, five grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and one great great grandson. J. T. worked at various jobs, including being an employee at Snake River Equipment, installing pumps, and as an Activity Bus Driver and Grounds Keeper for Idaho Falls School District #91. His health declined following a heart attack in 1996, and in 1997, he retired from his position at the school. J. T. loved to build things in his garage. He made all of his children wishing wells and many yard ornaments. He loved to fish, camp, and enjoyed family reunions at Bear Lake and Warm River. The love J. T. had for his children and grandchildren is unmatched. He will be missed so greatly. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Eileen Walters; two sons, Robb and Darren Walters, both of Idaho Falls; two daughters, Kathy (Paul) Brenberger of West Richland, Washington, and Kelly (Mark) Hayes, of Idaho Falls; and a sister, Eva Larsen of Salt Lake City, Utah. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, a brother, and a sister. He was also preceded in death by one son, Tom Walters, on August 18, 2014, 9 months to the day that J. T. passed away. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 21, 2015, at Wood Funeral Home (273 N. Ridge Ave.) in Idaho Falls. The family will visit with friends on Thursday from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to the services at the funeral home. Military rites will be performed following the services at the funeral home by the Bonneville County Veterans Team and Idaho Honor Guard. Burial will be on Friday at 1:00 p.m. at Rose Hill Cemetery.
