James Syme

JAMES SYME IDAHO FALLS, ID -- James DeVere Syme, 85, of Idaho Falls died March 30, 2006, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. He was born March 25, 1921, in Moroni, Utah, to Daniel C. Syme and Minnie Anderson Syme. He was raised in the McGill, Nevada, area and graduated from White Pine High School in Ely, Nevada. He joined the U. S. Army Air Corps and served as a Sergent in World War II. He was honorably discharged from the Air Force in 1945. He married Donna Craft on June 8, 1942 in Eureka, Nevada. They lived in the Idaho Falls area since 1957. He worked as a project administrator planner at the INEL and retired in 1983. During his younger years he loved the outdoors and spent time playing golf and hunting. He enjoyed spending time with his daughter, Nancy, and her family, his grandchildren and his great grandchildren. He is survived by: His daughter, Nancy C. (Gordon) Hiatt of Idaho Falls; Sister, LaVonda Mifflin of Ogden, Utah 6 Grandchildren and 14 Great Grandchildren and 1 Great Great Grandchild He was preceded in death by his wife, a son, Stanley James Syme, great granddaughter, Kikiko Baird, and three brothers. Graveside Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 5, 2006, at Deseret Cemetery in Deseret, Utah, with Veterans Rites performed by American Legion Post #135. Aarrangements are under the direction of Wood Funeral Home.
