James Lee Rohrbaugh, 74, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, passed away at Lincoln Court Retirement Community, surrounded by his loving wife and children on November 9, 2022.
James was born on June 11, 1948, in Hanover, Pennsylvania, to Charles Milton Rohrbaugh and Marlene Agnes Rohrbaugh. He graduated from Pennsylvania State University with a Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
James served as a Colonel in the United States Army and retired as a Brevet General from the Idaho National Guard. He served proudly as a commander of the 248th National Guard Engineer Battalion in Idaho Falls, Idaho.
James dedicated his career to the Idaho National Laboratory as an Electrical Engineer, and ultimately retired as a manager of the Life Safety Systems Division. He was a devoted and beloved boss to his many employees.
James, an avid outdoorsman, deeply enjoyed his pheasant hunting trips to South Dakota. He was the president of the Skyline Gun Club for many years, where he would shoot trap and sporting clays with his good friends and children.
On October 2, 1990, James married Nancy Curran, the love of his life, in Nevada. James and Nancy made their home in Idaho Falls, Idaho. After retiring, the couple enjoyed vacationing at the property they built in Mackay, Idaho, which they dubbed "Copper's Ranch." There, James and Nancy made countless memories, delighting in the scenery, wildlife, and sunsets.
James is survived by his wife of 32 years, Nancy Rohrbaugh of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Jill Rohrbaugh of Tacoma, WA; son, David (Heather) Rohrbaugh of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Amber (Corey) Peterson of Idaho Falls, ID; and son, Charles (Skylar) Rohrbaugh of Salem, OR; his two brothers, Steve (Bonnie) Rohrbaugh and Ken Rohrbaugh, both of Pennsylvania; and his three grandchildren.
James was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Marlene Rohrbaugh. Private services will be held at a later date in Mackay, Idaho.
