James "Jim" Robison

James Holt Robison, 86, of Idaho Falls, passed away November 10, 2018, with his loving wife, Lynne, at his side. Jim was born February 8, 1932, in Yakima, Washington, to John and Johanna Robison.

Jim was raised in Montrose, California, later graduating from Glendale High School. Jim enrolled in Occidental College in Los Angeles, receiving his Bachelors of Arts Degree in Geology in 1954. He later earned his Masters of Arts Degree in Geology from UCLA in 1960.

Jim served as an officer in the US Naval Reserve, on the Destroyer U.S.S. Higbee, DDR-806 from 1955 to 1957, in ports of Long Beach, CA and Yokosuka, Japan.

Jim married Doreen Bradley on June 5, 1954 in LaCanada, California.

The couple had three sons, Jordan, Jerel and Joel.

Jim spent most of his professional career working for the U.S. Geological Survey as both a geologist and hydrologist. He retired from the USGS in 1989.

On July 27, 1989, Jim married the love of his life, Lynne Robison, in Elko, Nevada. They lived in Denver before making their home in Idaho Falls, Idaho, in 2001.

Jim loved the outdoors. He had a passion for traveling, backpacking, hiking, camping, skiing, and snow shoeing.

Jim is survived by his loving wife, Lynne Robison of Idaho Falls, ID; brother-in-law, Basil Liascos; his three sons, Jordan Robison, Jerel Robison, and Joel Robison; two grandsons, Patrick Robison and Tyler Robison; Lynne’s three sons and their spouses, Steve Johnson (Maurita), Scott Johnson (Donna), and Kevin Johnson (Shannon); her six grandchildren, (Ryan Kindell, Zach Johnson, Kaitlynne Johnson, Jenna Johnson, Ryan Johnson, and Kendall Johnson); as well as very special family members, Greg and Viki Bailey, and their children.

Jim was preceded in death by both his parents, and his sister, Janice Ann Liascos.

A celebration of life will be held in Jim’s honor at a later date.
