June 13 2013: Angels came today to bring home one of their special souls. James Bernard Pickering passed away at his home while under that care of hospice.
James was born October 6,1944, to John M and Francis E Pickering in Idaho Falls, Idaho. He was the youngest of three children. His two older sisters were Jeanne and Janet. James attended local schools and graduated from Idaho Falls High school in 1962. After high school he joined the U.S. Navy and served in Okinawa as an aircraft-engine mechanic. He received his Honorable Discharge October 12,1968.
James worked at Ready to Pour Concrete and was injured on the job which prompted him to go on to school and he graduated from Idaho State University in Pocatello. He worked at KISU Channel 10 as a Program Engineer and enjoyed drag racing.
James moved back to Idaho Falls and continued to joke and tease all around him. He enjoyed playing liars poker, pan, pool, darts, dancing and chasing women. He loved spending time in the potato fields from start to finish. He had his keen sense of humor until the day he died.
He will be missed by many and remembered for his kindness and generosity. James could always be counted on to support dreams and keep all around grounded.
He was survived by his daughter Jana, sister Jeanne Joiner and many extended family and friends that loved him.
James was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Janet Holt Harden.
