James Delos Morris Jr.

James (Jim) Delos Morris, Jr., 72, passed peacefully on December 12, 2025, surrounded by his family in Reno, Nevada.

Jim was born June 21, 1953, in Pocatello, Idaho, to Ernestine-Archibald Morris Cowley and James Delos Morris Sr. Raised in Pocatello, Jim graduated Pocatello High School in 1971, enrolled at Idaho State University, and moved to Pleasant Hill, California, in 1973, where he met his wife, Deborah (Debbie) Morris, and was married in 1976. Jim and Debbie raised two daughters, both of whom Jim cherished and protected at all times.

After moving to California, Jim devoted more than 50 years working in engineering and construction in various states, including California, Colorado, Nevada, and Wyoming. His strong work ethic earned him the respect of his colleagues, made him become an expert in his industry, and was a mentor to many people. Regardless of how hard he worked, his goal was always to unselfishly provide a stable and enjoyable life for his family. In 2010, Jim and Debbie divorced and Jim moved to Reno, Nevada, where he finished out his career in construction management.

If Jim was not working, he would be with his family on his boat in Lake Tahoe, vacationing in Driggs, Idaho, one of his most special places, or playing golf with his friends and family. Jim was the rock and foundation of his family, always helping, listening, and consulting when asked and needed.

He is survived by his three siblings, Deanne (Secrist) Smith, William Morris, and Sandra (Morris) Borg; his two daughters, Amber (Morris) Reid and Jessica (Morris) Clausen; his five grandchildren, Kendra (Reid) Luna, Cannon and Caleb Reid, Stella and Lola Clausen; five nieces, Teri (Smith) Overman, Tracie Smith, Jilline (Smith) Maynes, Corrine (Walker) Bell, and Johanna (Walker) Leavitt; and four nephews, Jason and Kyle Walker, and Ryan and Neil Smith.

He is preceded in death by his parents, James Delos Morris Sr. and Ernestine Archibald Secrist Morris Cowley; brother-in-law, Theadore Smith; niece, Regina Smith; beloved granddaughter, Brynn Clausen; and numerous nieces and nephews that he loved and cherished dearly.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 10, 2026, at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 South Ammon Road. The family will visit with friends from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to services. A celebration of life will be held from 2-5 p.m. on January 31, 2026, at the Vigil, in Reno, Nevada.
