James Eugene Manship, 82, of Idaho Falls, passed away December 31, 2024, at his home.
Jim was born December 29, 1942, in Decatur, Illinois, to Fred Manship and Della Wooters Manship. He grew up and attended schools in Auburn and graduated from Auburn High School. Jim also attended Florisant College and Antelope Valley College. He went on to join the United States Air Forces and later attended Air Force Tech School.
On October 4, 1962, Jim married Carol Kline. They had two children, Kim and Steve. Jim and Carol were later divorced in 1975. On April 18, 1987, he married Diane Marie Emerson in Las Vegas, Nevada. In 1990, Jim adopted Dean and Donovan Manship. Jim and Diane made their home in Lancaster, California, where Jim worked as a Electronic Engineer at Edwards Air Force Base. He flew with the Blue Angels and the Thunderbirds while working as a Flight Test Engineer. He retired from Boeing after working for 35 years. In 2005, they moved to Idaho Falls to be near family.
He was a member of the Elks Lodge and various golf leagues. Jim enjoyed darts and golf, but most of all his family.
Jim is survived by his wife, Diane Marie Manship of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Kimberly (Jeremy) Glass of Ammon, ID; son, Steve (Rachelle) Manship of Ammon, ID; son, Donovan Manship of Palmdale, CA; daughter, April Manship Gordon of Boise, ID; sister, Kay Kendall of Auburn, IL; 5 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Dean Manship; sister, Pauline Manship; and two brothers, Fred Manship Jr. and Dick Manship.
Memorial services will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, January 31, 2025, the Elks Lodge, 640 Elva Street. Military Honors will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Memorial Team and Air Force Honor Guard.
