JAMES D. HANES
IDAHO FALLS, ID - Having lived a very happy, full, and
blessed life, James Donnell (J.D. or “Dink”) Hanes left this
world to meet the Lord on January 24, 2004.
J.D. was born November 21, 1911 in Lela, TX. to James
S. and Susan A. Hanes, where he worked on the family farm while attending
school in Shamrock, TX. He met and married the “love of his life,”
Gracie Jewel Davis 71 years ago on December 21st, 2003. They moved to
Idaho Falls in 1942. He retired from School District #91 in 1974 after
over 28 years of dedicated custodial service at Edgemont Elementary School
in Idaho Falls, where he loved and was loved by the many children and
faculty that attended and were employed there.
He enjoyed several hobbies and sports, but nothing gave
him more delight than his family and friends. He was a faithful member
of New Life Assembly of God for more than 40 years. His kindness and generosity
were evident to all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife Jewel Hanes of Idaho Falls,
two sons, and six daughters: Bennie N. (Jean) Hanes of Price, UT, Neva
J. Clark of Idaho Falls, Donald R. (Carol) Hanes of Longview, Violet M.
Brosnahan of Kelso, WA, Barbara A. (Morrie) Roosa of Las Vegas, NV, Carol
J. Hanes of Kennewick, WA, Mary E. Mallory of Longview, WA, and Paulla
S. (Peter) Thornock of Idaho Falls; 21 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren,
and 3 great, great grandchildren.
The family will visit with friends Monday, January 26th,
at 10:00 a.m., at Wood East Side Chapel, 963 South Ammon Road.
Memorial Services will be held Tuesday, January 27. 2004,
at 2:30 p.m. at New Life Assembly of God Church, 2170 East 12th Street,
Idaho Falls.
Our beloved daddy and grandfather often expressed his
desire to “go home” to Texas. We rejoice in knowing he has
finally realized his dream . . . he is home.
