JAMES DALLEY Click here to view a video of James' life IDAHO FALLS, ID -- James Edwin (Jim) Dalley, 85, of Idaho Falls, passed away June 2, 2008, of a heart attack. He was born June 27, 1922, in Kanab, Utah, to Julius Sylvester Dalley and Rachel Henrietta Woolley Dalley. He attended Kane County High School, Branch Ag College, now SUU, in Cedar City, UT and Utah State Ag College, now Utah State University. He married Beulah LaWanna Walther on December 25, 1942 and their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple. Jim worked in electronics many years, first as Service Manager for Standard Electric in Ogden, Utah, and later started the Electrical Engineering Department at Weber College, now Weber State University. He attained his Master’s and PhD in Electrical Engineering at the University of Utah. He worked for Bell Labs in Reading, PA and Denver, CO. He was a visiting professor at Tuskegee Institute in Alabama and was a professor at the University of Utah in Electrical Engineering. For many years he was a leader in the Boy Scouts of America including service as Scoutmaster. One of his favorite memories was the 50-mile hike with the troop. As an Eagle Scout himself, he was proud of his 14 grandsons, all of whom attained the Eagle rank. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving in many positions including Bishop in the Reading PA and Denver 7th Wards. He also served as a counselor in the Denver North Stake Presidency. Jim enjoyed computer technology, data entry, writing family histories and his life story. He loved fly fishing, and camping with his family. He was also an avid HAM radio operator and created a computer software program to teach Morse Code. While living in Centerville, UT he taught HAM radio classes for many years. Survivors include his wife, Beulah, of Idaho Falls, and children, James L. (Ina) Dalley of Beavercreek, OH; Luana Gay (Laurel) Willis of Idaho Falls; Linda (Wallace) Carroll of Centennial, CO; and Carla (Howard) Cleavinger of Vernal, Utah. He has 25 grandchildren and 52 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Julius and sisters, Leah Jones and Rachel Ahlstrom Jolley. Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 7, 2008, at the Rose Park LDS Ward, 351 West 14th Street, with Bishop Scott Smith officiating. The family will visit with friends on Friday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge Avenue, and Saturday from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in Fielding Memorial Park under the direction of Wood Funeral Home.
