James "Jim" Croston

James Frank "Jim" Croston, 83, of Spokane Valley, Washington, passed away December 27, 2017, at his home. Jim was born October 7, 1934, in Kearney, Nebraska, to Ruth Croston. He moved to Idaho Falls at the age of 2. He grew up in Idaho Falls and attended Bonneville High School. He took accelerated courses in Mechanics before learning his profession as a carpenter and drywall applicator. On September 24, 1955, he married Marjorie Nield in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Their life together was filled with many blessings including six children, Linda, Jim, Vicki, Rodney, Stanley, and Dwayne. Jim and Marjorie made their home in Spokane Valley, Washington, where Jim worked as a carpenter and drywall applicator. He enjoyed his family, traveling and the great outdoors. Jim is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Marjorie Croston of Spokane Valley, WA; daughter, Linda (Don) Penning of Spokane, WA; son, Jim Croston of Spokane, WA; daughter, Vicki Riggs of Four Lakes, WA; son, Rodney (Gay) Croston of Spokane Valley, WA; son, Stanley Croston of Coeur d'Alene, ID, and many wonderful grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ruth Croston-Crawford, son, Dwayne Croston, grandson, Zacheriah Riggs, brothers-in-law who were like brothers, Jim Robinson, Victor Nield, Jay Nield, and Robert Nield, his parents-in-law, Edwin and Leona Nield, who he loved dearly. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, January 4, 2018, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge Avenue in Idaho Falls, Idaho, with Jim Penning officiating. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and Thursday from 10:30 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. prior to services, both times at the funeral home. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. Luncheon will follow interment at 2:30 p.m.
