James Clark

James Nicholas Clark (Jim/Jimmy), age 64, of Shelley, passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side. He was under the care of his wife, Karen, children, Jacob, Sydney, and Bodhi, along with moral support from his son, Nicholas, in California, and assisted by Eden Home Health and Hospice.

Jim was born on April 17, 1961, in Denver, Colorado. He moved to Idaho with his family in 1968. He was active in Grid kid football and baseball and terrorizing his little sisters.

He spent most of his school years in Shelley, where he participated actively in sports. He graduated from Shelley High School in 1979.

Jim met Karen while they were both working at RT French Company in Shelley. Jim thought she was cute and wanted to meet her. Much to the chagrin of his future father-in-law, they started dating, but they ultimately grew to love and respect each other. They married in Firth on December 11, 1981.

Jim and Karen started out life together in the Shelley and Idaho Falls area, where their son, Nicholas, was born on January 6, 1987. They relocated to Hartford, Connecticut for a period after Jim was awarded his Certificate of Applied Science in Nuclear Security. Then, it was back to the Shelley and Idaho Falls area, finally settling in Goshen.

Jim started at the site in 1989 in security. Then he moved to other jobs there that interested him. He worked there until 2018 when he took early retirement. They added two more children to their family. Jacob was born on October 31, 1989, followed by Sydney on February 26, 1993.

Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time in their second home in Island Park with his family, 4 wheeling and enjoying and exploring nature. Jim loved classic rock (70's rock) which he passed on to his children. He loved to attend rock concerts. He spent hours in the basement playing guitar and listening to music. Jim was an avid Vikings and Nebraska football fan.

Jim was meticulous!!!!!!!! Everything had its spot and that is where it should be! He was an avid collector (with the help of his wife) of sunglasses, watches, knives, guns, and guitars…

Jim had a tender heart that he hid well, but if you needed him, he was there in a heartbeat.

Jim is survived by his wife, Karen; his children, Nicholas (Melissa) of Menifee, CA, Jacob, and Sydney (Bodhi), both of Shelley; his mother, Patricia Clark of Idaho Falls; his sisters, Colleen Southworth and Vicki Pincock of Idaho Falls; and 5 grandchildren, Maci, Ella, Jayda, Jordyn and Asher.

A gathering will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 10, 2026, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge Avenue.
