JIM CARLETON IDAHO FALLS, ID -- James Hamilton “Jim” Carleton, 81, of Idaho Falls, died June 3, 2008, at his home. He was under the care of Hands of Hope Hospice. He was born September 3, 1926, in National City, California, to Ellsworth Frank Carleton and Leila Jeanette Hamilton Carleton. He attended schools in the area and graduated from Sweetwater Union High School. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. In 1950, he married Dolores Schram; they had one son, Steven. They were later divorced. On May 24, 1975, he married Karen Mae Hastings in San Francisco, California. He spent most of his professional career in sales and management in the corporate office furniture industry, and later in real estate development. He lived in Idaho Falls for the past six years, prior to that he lived in Fallbrook, California, for 20 years, and Glendale and Laguna Beach, California. Jim most recently enjoyed reading, and watching golf on television; he always enjoyed politics, crossword puzzles, family games, cards, and gardening. Survivors include: Wife: Karen Carleton, Idaho Falls, ID Mother-in-law: Mildred Hastings, Idaho Falls, ID Brother-in-law: David Hastings, Idaho Falls, ID Sister-in-law: Sue Hastings, Idaho Falls, ID Sister: Mildred Lorena Corenman, Mountain View, CA He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Steven Carleton; and a brother-in-law, Gary Hastings.
