JAMES R. BLAKE IDAHO FALLS, ID -- James Robert Blake, 73, of Idaho Falls, died October 25, 2004, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. He was born September 20, 1931, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Rulon and Ethel Armstrong Blake. He was raised in Lincoln, Idaho, where he attended school through the 8th grade. He also attended O. E. Bell Jr. High and Idaho Falls High School, where he lettered in basketball. He then attended Ricks College. On September 21, 1950, he married Ann Bacon in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. He worked for Smith Hart Nursery and the Utah-Idaho Sugar Factory until February, 1952, when he went to work at the Atomic Energy Commission site at Arco. He was an instrument technician and an instrument planner at the Chemical Processing Plant. He worked there for 41 years until his retirement in 1993. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many capacities, including Bishop's counselor, Bishop, member of the Stake High Council, in the German extraction program at the Family History Library, and as an officiator in the Idaho Falls Temple. He was active in the Boy Scouts of America and had achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. Surviving are: Wife: Ann Blake, Ammon, ID Daughter: Linda (Gary) Spence, Ogden, UT Son: Robert K. (Cindie) Blake, Pleasanton, CA Son: Darren J. (Shellie) Blake, Augusta, GA Daughter: Lisa Blake, Alexandria, VA Son-In-Law: Rocky (Margaret) Arave, Shelley, ID Brother: Rulon D. (Violet) Blake, Bountiful, UT Brother: William D. (Dot) Blake, Idaho Falls, ID 13 Grandchildren, 6 Great Grandchildren He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Nanette Blake Arave, a granddaughter, Kara Arave, and a sister, Venice Buell. Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, October 29, 2004, at the Ammon LDS Stake Center, 2055 South Ammon Road, with Bishop Les Grigg of the Ammon 14th Ward officiating. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home East Side (963 S. Ammon) and Friday for one hour prior to the services at the church. Burial will be in the Lincoln Cemetery under the direction of Wood Funeral Home East Side.
