Click Here To View Memorial Video James Adkerson, 69, of Idaho Falls, passed away May 10, 2015, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. James was born December 25, 1945, in Ripley, Tennessee, to James William Adkerson and Elizabeth Richardson Adkerson. James was raised by his foster parents, Mary Elizabeth and Decatur Sanford. He grew up and attended schools in Ripley and graduated from Ripley High School. He attended automotive school and earned a teaching certificate from Clark County Community College. On August 27, 1978, he married Brenda Jenkins in Las Vegas, Nevada. They completed their family with four children: Jason, James, Eric and Beth. James moved to Las Vegas when he was 17 years old and in 1986 they moved to Idaho Falls, Idaho. James was a very talented engineer and excelled in the various occupations he took on. James served his country in the United States Army. He enjoyed many activities with his family including, boating, photography, helicopters, aviation, hunting and fishing. James most enjoyed working on and restoring cars; he took the most pride in working on his 1965 Shelby Mustang, GT350. He adored his grandchildren and loved teaching them computers, photography and sharing his love of cars. James is survived by his loving wife, Brenda Adkerson of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Jason Macklin of Idaho Falls, ID; son, James W. (Katie) Adkerson III of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Eric (Maren) Adkerson of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Beth (Jeremy) Harker of Idaho Falls, ID; sister, Carolyn (Jimmy)Jackson of Ripley, TN; sister, Dana (Joe) Mood, of Addison, AL; and his grandchildren, Aliya, Dylan, Jackson, Mckinley and Hudson. He was preceded in death by his foster parents, Mary Elizabeth and Decatur Sanford, a brother, Chuck Grimes and a sister, Charlotte Helm. Memorial Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 15, 2015, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge Avenue. The family will visit with friends from 1:00 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home.
