Jacqueline Hymas

Jacqueline Hymas, 85, of Idaho Falls, passed away February 26, 2026, in Nampa, Idaho.

Jackie was born January 29, 1941, in Rexburg, Idaho, to Mona Humphrey Van Sickle and John “Jack” Martin Van Sickle. She grew up and attended schools in Rigby and Idaho Falls and graduated from Idaho Falls High School. She graduated from Ex-Cel-Cis Beauty College in 1960.

On June 2, 1961, Jackie married Jerry Ben Hymas in Iona, Idaho. Jackie and Jerry had their marriage solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple on May 14, 1964. They made their home in Idaho Falls, where Jackie worked as a beautician and homemaker, and later as a florist. They were members of the Lincoln Second Ward, then Lincoln Third Ward for many years. Jerry’s work took them to Albuquerque, New Mexico, in 1984 where they resided for ten years before returning to Idaho Falls.

Jerry died November 9, 1994.

Jackie was a devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and a devoted mother and homemaker. She enjoyed camping, cosmetology, flower arranging, gardening, painting, baking (her pies were especially popular), and serving others. In the late 1970’s, she partnered with a friend to open and operate the Country Florist and Gift Shop on Lincoln Road in Idaho Falls. After Jerry’s passing and to be near children and grandchildren, she enjoyed successive moves to Caldwell, Idaho; Murray, Kentucky; Greenfield, Minnesota; St. Louis, Missouri; Rupert, Idaho; Iona, Idaho; and finally, Nampa, Idaho.

In 1970, Jackie was sealed to her mother and stepfather, David Lewis Neal, in the Idaho Falls Temple.

Jackie is survived by her five children: son, Eric (Kellie) Hymas; son, Douglas (Yuko) Hymas; daughter, Jody (Richie) Richardson; son, Mark (Amy) Hymas; daughter, Jill (Brett) Hamilton; 20 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren. She also is survived by her sisters, Judy Hinckley and Laura Burton; brothers, Dan and Jim Neal; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jerry Hymas; grandson, Colton E. Hymas; and brothers, Tim and Cary Neal.
