Jacqueline Batie

Jacqueline Anne Johnston Batie, 80, of Idaho Falls, passed away unexpectedly August 6, 2018, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.

Jacqui was born July 14, 1938, in Glasgow, Montana, to Leonard Ernest Johnston and Helene Claire Spicker Johnston. During the course of her lifetime, she lived throughout numerous states including South Dakota, Hawaii, Minnesota, and eventually back to Idaho. She attended Idaho Falls High School, and then went on to Hamline University in St. Paul, MN, and SDSU in Brookings, SD. She was a former kindergarten teacher, school principal, incredible hostess and homemaker extraordinaire.

She wed Arnold K Skeie on September 21, 1957 in Brookings, South Dakota. To this union were born two daughters, Lorri and Dawn.

On September 5, 1997, she married her high school sweetheart, Jerry C Batie in Island Park, Idaho. Jacqui and Jerry made their home in Idaho Falls and celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary last year.

Jacqui was well-known for her love of animals, her contagious laugh and smile, and her zest for life. Her passions included sewing, knitting, and gardening.

Jacqui is survived by her loving husband, Jerry Batie of Idaho Falls, ID; daughters Lorri (Rick) Skeie-Campbell of Corrales, NM and Dawn Skeie Crane of Fosston, MN; step-daughter, Sherri (Mike) Espinosa of Pocatello, ID; brother, Dr. Bill (Kathy) Johnston of Tucson, AZ; granddaughter Jourdan (Marc) Kroll of Hastings, NE; and numerous step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard & Helene Johnston, and step-daughter Michelle Anderson.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 15, 2018, at Wood Funeral Home, (273 N. Ridge Avenue).
