Mertie Bell (Jackie) Stephens, 81, of Idaho Falls, passed away peacefully Saturday, September 6, 2014, at her home.
She was born September 1, 1933, to Leroy and Iva Lee Walters Nelson in Munson, Florida. She was the oldest of twelve children.
On September 3, 1950, at age 17, she married the love of her life, Len K. Stephens from Warm River, Idaho, in Lusedale, Mississippi. They were married for 54 years before Len passed away in 2004. They were the parents of five girls and four boys and had numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two daughters, Pamela and Diane.
She loved talking with people whether it was family, friend or stranger.
Jackie was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses on August 6, 1960. She dearly loved the Bible and was eager to share what she learned and came to believe with anyone that would listen, with many relatives becoming witnesses over time.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, September 13, 2014, at the Ammon Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 4805 S. Sweetwater Way in Ammon, with Rande Oksendahl presiding. No formal visitation is planned.
