Jack Winchester

Jack Lamar Winchester, 73, of Idaho Falls, died Tuesday, March 22, 2011, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center of heart failure. Jack was born May 23, 1937, in Lewisville, Idaho to Melvin James and Ida Grace (Lee) Winchester. Jack grew up in Lewisville and graduated from Rigby High School. He married Eleanor Philpott on December 19, 1959. They were blessed with three children. They were later divorced. He married Roberta (Bobby) Jean Gordon March 25, 1974. This marriage combined her 4 children and his three into their seven. Bobby died in May of 1997. Jack married Kay Rock Williams July 31, 2000, adding her five sons and daughter-in-law to their growing family. Jack worked as a lineman for 38 years and was a proud lifetime member of IBEW Local #449. His job took him throughout Idaho, Montana, California, Nevada, Arizona, and Utah. He worked on the Teton Dam, was a licensed electrician, and also worked for the City of Idaho Falls. Jack was also involved in CB radios and was a founding member of the Helping Hand Club. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Jack loved to fish, camp, and garden. He especially enjoyed deep sea fishing and spent a lot of time at Timber Cove, California. He loved his children and really enjoyed being a Dad but always said nothing beat being a grandpa. Jack and Kay were blessed to spend summers at Mackay where they had a piece of paradise on the river. Nothing made Jack happier than to have family and friends out for weekends of fishing and fun. Putting his grandkids to work at Mackay was a particular source of joy. Jack is survived by his beloved wife, Kay Winchester, of Idaho Falls; sons, Kevin (Sheila) Winchester of Pocatello, ID and Richard Albright of Kirkland, WA; daughters, Marie (Jerry) Moreau, Rhonda (Gary) Starnes, LeaAnn (Brad) Frazee, all of Idaho Falls and Kathy Fitzpatrick of Philipsburg, MT; stepsons, Brent, Ken, and Kyle Williams of Boise, Mark (Rona) Williams and Cory Williams of Idaho Falls, ID; 25 grandchildren, and 19 great grandchildren. Besides his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his wife, Bobby; brother, Lee Winchester; sisters, Marjorie Scott and Shirley Winchester; and stepson, Robert Albright. A Celebration of Life will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 25, 2011, at Wood Funeral Home (273 N. Ridge). The family will visit with friends on Friday from 10-11:00 a.m. prior to the services at the funeral home.
