Jack R Wickham, 88, of Idaho Falls, passed away February 1, 2014, at his home, of natural causes. He was under the care of Hospice of Eastern Idaho. Jack was born February 9, 1925, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Vernon Hawkes Wickham and Mary Lavina Rasband Wickham. He grew up and attended schools in Idaho Falls. He joined the United States Navy during World War II, and served as a Water Tender Second Class aboard the U.S.S. Herald of the Morning, and received four victory medals. He participated in the Asiatic Pacific Area Campaign, the American Area Campaign, and the Liberation of the Philippines. On July 20, 1949, he married Lucy Hannah Barnes in Twin Falls, Idaho. Jack and Lucy were blessed with five children, Bruce, Joyce, Carol, Janet, and Terie. Jack and Lucy made their home in Idaho Falls, Idaho, where Jack worked for Bingham Mechanical as a plumber and pipe fitter. After fifty years of marriage, the love of his life, Lucy passed away on January 2, 2000. He missed her dearly. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed building, gardening, woodworking, camping, and the great outdoors. Jack was mechanically gifted and could build or fix anything. He built the family home. Later he built the family cabin and made many pieces of furniture for family and friends. Jack is survived by son, Bruce (Lori) Wickham of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Joyce Wickham of South Jordan, UT; daughter, Carol (Ron) Orbison of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Janet (Ken) Rodham of Pleasant Grove, UT; daughter, Terie (Jay) D'Ewart of Rock Springs, WY; 13 grandchildren and 1 great grandson. He was preceded in death by his wife Lucy, parents, one brother and three sisters. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 8, 2014, at the Idaho Falls LDS Willow Creek Ward, 6925 N 15th E, with Bishop Jason Hales officiating. The family will visit with friends from 7:00-8:30 p.m. Friday at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge Avenue, and Saturday from 10:00-10:45 a.m. Burial will be in the Ririe-Shelton Cemetery. Military Rites will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Memorial Team and Idaho Honor Guard.
