Jack Boyd Thompson, 93, of Idaho Falls, passed away September 9, 2012, at Fairwinds Sandcreek Retirement Community of causes incident to age. He was being cared for by his family and OneSource Hospice.
Jack was born January 17, 1919, in Clarkston, Utah, to Newel Rendall Thompson and Amy Griffiths Thompson. He attended school in Logan, Utah, and graduated from North Cache High School. He earned his bachelor’s degree in engineering from Utah State University. He valiantly served his country in the U. S. Navy during World War II.
On June 23, 1944, he married Irma Morgan in the Logan Utah LDS Temple. They had four children, Boyd, Paul, MaryEllen, and William. Irma passed away October 12, 1961.
On January 11, 1964, he married Mary Evelyn Draper Findlay in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. Jack and Evelyn had one daughter, Jacklyn, whom they added to the family along with Evelyn’s daughter, Linda. Jack worked for Hoffman Television from 1949-1953, then as an Electronic Engineer at the INL until his retirement in 1985.
An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Jack served in many capacities over the years, including Stake Clerk in the Idaho Falls North and Idaho Falls West Stakes, in the 17th Ward Bishopric, and, along with Evelyn, served in the Idaho Falls Regional Family History Center and as officiators in the Idaho Falls Temple. He and Evelyn served a full-time mission to the Toronto Canada Temple from July 1993 to December 1994. Jack was meticulous by nature and enjoyed woodworking, gardening, and working on the computer.

Sister, Lola Larsen of West Jordan, UT,
Sister, Jeannine Hendricks of Salt Lake City, UT,
Sister, Kathy Jones of Pohoa, Hawaii;
31 grandchildren, 78 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Irma, three brothers, Norman, Dennis, and William Thompson, and two sisters, Lemoyne Hobbs and Joan Thompson.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 15, 2012, at the Idaho Falls LDS Grandview Ward, 1450 Mountain View Lane, with Bishop Travis Wilkins officiating. The family will visit with friends from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Friday and from 10:00 to 10:45 p.m. Saturday, both at the church. Burial will be in Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery. Military Rites will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Memorial Team and Idaho Honor Guard.
