Jack Ramon Taylor

Jack Ramon Taylor, 97, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, passed away peacefully on May 25, 2026, at Fairwinds-Sand Creek Retirement Community.

Jack was born November 12, 1928, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Chester George Taylor and Lana Ardell Arave Taylor. He was the second youngest of eight children. He grew up in eastern Idaho and graduated from Shelley High School before serving his country in the United States Army.

During a break from military service, Jack returned home to marry his sweetheart, Donetta May Goldman, in 1953. Together, they made their home in American Falls, Idaho, where Jack worked for Clover Club for many years. They were blessed with eight children and built a life centered on faith, family, and hard work.

Jack is survived by his children: Lois (Wayne) Barney of Idaho Falls, Idaho; John (Peggy) Taylor of Idaho Falls, Idaho; Susan (Larry) Perkes of Idaho Falls, Idaho; Chester (Trudy) Taylor of American Falls, Idaho; Trudy (Brian) Phillips of Pocatello, Idaho; and Ray (Melissa) Taylor of Idaho Falls, Idaho.

Following Donetta's passing in 1998, Jack married Charlene Barclay. Together, they made their home in American Falls, and Jack's family grew to include Jim Barclay of American Falls, Idaho; Doug (Vicky) Barclay of Boise, Idaho; Lisa (Brett) Leyshon of American Falls, Idaho; and Brian (Dana) Barclay of American Falls, Idaho.

Jack deeply loved his family and treasured every opportunity to spend time with them. His legacy includes 32 grandchildren and 46 great-grandchildren.

A faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Jack served diligently in many callings, including the Sunday School Presidency, the scouting program, as High Priest Group Leader, and as a faithful home teacher. He also served a service mission and was a proud member of the Sons of Utah Pioneers.

Jack enjoyed farming, gardening, writing, compiling family history, and sharing stories with those he loved. He will be remembered for his patriotism, devotion to family, strong testimony, stories and quiet service to others.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Lana Taylor; his first wife, Donetta Taylor; daughters, Ellen Taylor and Cherre Taylor; brothers, Donald Taylor and Jay Taylor; and sisters, Fern Peterson, Bernice Taylor, Maudell Meyers, Hazel Taylor, and Sally Glauser.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 30, 2026, at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 South Ammon Road. The family will visit with friends from 10:00-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Burial will follow in the Taylor Cemetery. Military honors will be performed by David B Bleak Post 93 and the Idaho Honor Guard.
