Jack Patteson

Jack Edward Patteson was born on 25 May 1939, in Ellensburg, Kittitas, Washington, to John Edward and Margaret Christine Patteson. In 1959, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and trained for three months in Missouri as a crane operator. He was then deployed to Nancy, France, for about 17 months. During his time in France, he traveled to Barcelona and Luxemburg.

After returning home, Jack worked as a choker for Weyerhaeuser, and later as a delivery driver for grocery stores in the Seattle area. In 1966, he was baptized into The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and met Michal shortly after her mission to Texas. They were married on 3 Dec 1966 in Issaquah, Washington, and later sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple on 13 Nov 1967. They built their home in Redmond, Washington, and had three children, Mary Susan, Julie Ann, and John Edward.

Jack worked as a foreman in the construction trade and later owned a small construction business. After retirement, Jack and Michal served three missions together: a restoration mission in Kirkland, Ohio (1996-98), a proselyting mission in Sawmill, Arizona, serving the Navajo Native Americans (2002-04), and then serving as caretakers for the Church-owned Nisqually campgrounds in Tacoma, Washington (2006-07). Later, Jack and Michal settled in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Jack had a lifelong love of hunting, fishing, building, and serving others. He filled various church callings and served many years as a Temple Ordinance worker in the Seattle, Washington Temple and the Idaho Falls, Idaho Temple.

Jack was preceded in death by his eternal love, Michal (2020); his parents (1999 & 2000); and siblings, Clara (1934), Nancy (1942), Avon (2005), and Leslie (2014); and one great granddaughter, Taylor (2017). Jack and Michal were blessed with three children and their spouses, 14 grandchildren and their spouses, and 25 great grandchildren.
