Jack Forbush

Jack Forbush of Iona, Idaho, passed away at home on Saturday, July 16, 2011, surrounded by his loving family, at age 74. He was born August 5, 1936, in Rexburg, Idaho, to Elmer Forbush and Blanche Mackley Forbush. He grew up in Salem and served an LDS mission to Western Canada. He married Marilyn Pearl Miller on his birthday, August 5, 1959. Just two years ago, they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Jack and Lynne raised seven wonderful children; six sons and one daughter. They were the joy of his life! Jack worked for the Soil Conservation Service for 35 years and also owned and operated the Iona 6-12 store for 20 years. Together with his wife Lynne, he served a second LDS mission in Novosibirsk, Siberia, Russia. He has held many church callings, including five bishoprics, the high council and in the Idaho Falls Temple. His hobbies included photography, hunting and fishing, but most of all gardening and yard work. He knew how to work a shovel and besides his family, his yard was his pride and joy! Jack is survived by his wife, Lynne of Iona, Idaho; son, Kevin (Christine) Forbush of Shelley, Idaho; son, Todd (Trina) Forbush of Idaho Falls, Idaho; son, Brent Forbush of South Jordan, Utah; daughter, Tonya (Scott) Bird of Iona, Idaho; son, Tracy (Julie) Forbush of Eagle River, Alaska; son, Tyler (Ereca) Forbush of Spokane, Washington; son, Brandon (Danielle) Forbush of Ft. Collins, Colorado; brother, Harold Forbush of Rexburg, Idaho; sister, Lavon Clinton of Salem, Idaho; sister, Ellen Singleton of St. Anthony, Idaho; brother, Robert Forbush of Salem, Idaho; and brother, Max (Julie) Forbush of Farmington, Utah. He was preceded in death by his parents Elmer and Blanche Forbush; and siblings, Blanch, Clarence, Don, Bill and Benny; daughter-in-law, Karen Watson Forbush, and granddaughter, Kristie Bird. Together, Jack and Lynne bragged about their 41 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren, their most valued and loved assets. Jack was a great example to all of his posterity and loved ones and will be missed by all.
