Jack Edward Ellingford, 90, of Idaho Falls, passed away Sunday, August 6, 2017, at his home. Jack was born February 10, 1927, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Arthur Edward Ellingford and Inez Lareen Cutler Ellingford. As a kid he loved spending time in Yellowstone National Park with his father as he worked on building roads throughout the park. He enjoyed swimming with bear cubs as the mother bear watched over her cubs. He was active in the Boy Scouts of America and was an Eagle Scout. He loved animals of all kinds. Jack enlisted in the U.S. Navy during World War II and served in the Asiatic Pacific Theater. The last ship he served on was the USS Roche DE 197. He was a Motor Machinist 3rd Class. He was married to Dorla Bergeson and they later divorced. He married Marian Sorensen Ellingford in August, 1957. They had six children. Marian passed away March 30, 2017. After the war he worked with his father in the family business, "Ellingford Excavating," and upon his father's death in 1972, he became the sole owner and successfully ran the business until he sold it and retired in the early 1990's. He also worked nights at a second job from August 1963-January 1965 as a Deputy Marshal and Deputy Sheriff for Bonneville County. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and was active in leadership roles in the Boy Scouts through the church program. He is survived by his sons, Brent, Robert and Rick and daughter, Tamara. He was proceeded in death by his wife of 59 years, Marian, his son, Lynn, his daughter, Mandy, his siblings, Mahlon Ellingford and Vivian Gray, his parents, Arthur Edward Ellingford and Inez Cutler Ellingford. Graveside Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 10, 2017, at the Ammon Cemetery. Military Rites will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Memorial Team and Idaho Honor Guard.
