Jack V. Christensen

Jack V. Christensen, 97, of Rigby, passed away April 25, 2024, at Idaho Falls Community Hospital in Idaho Falls.

Jack was born February 1, 1927, in Shelley, Idaho, to James Vestal Christensen and Christie Edith Empey Christensen. He grew up and attended schools in Shelley and Jameston and graduated from Shelley High School. He served in the United States Navy during WWII.

On September 6, 1962, he married Lenore Jeanne Burks in Elko, Nevada. They were later divorced.

He later married Shirley Jane Ritchie. She passed away October 22, 2022. Jack worked as a rancher and enjoyed ranching and its associated activities.

He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Jack had a sweet tooth and loved his sweets. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, 4-wheeling, and country music.

Jack is survived by his son, Jay Christensen of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Bonnie Christensen of Blackfoot, ID; son, James Christensen of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Kathleen (Sean) Bystrom; son, Levi (Melinda) Christensen of Blackfoot, ID; sisters, Mary Charlton of Twin Falls, ID, and  Helen Kelley of Shelley, ID; brother, Phil (Shirley) Christensen of Bancroft, ID; nine grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Shirley; and brothers, Ray and Danny Christensen.

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 4, 2024, at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road. The family will visit with friends from 1-1:45 p.m. prior to services. Services will be broadcast live to this page. Burial will be in the Taylor Cemetery. Military Honors will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Memorial Team and Navy Honor Guard.
